About Me

Howdy, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

My name is Heidi and I am a proud elementary teacher.  I have been teaching for 12 years now and loving it!  I started out as an Early Literacy Intervention teacher which was an amazing job but my position got cut so I went back into the classroom.  I have taught first through fifth grades and love them all for different reasons. These little munchkins crack me up every day and their love for school inspires me.

Aside from being a teacher I am also a mom and a wife. My own three little munchkins are the light of my life and they make me want to be a better mom, wife and teacher.  My oldest helped me pick the name for this blog and then was inspired to start a blog of her own!

I spend a lot of time creating resources for my classroom because the resources that were given to me just didn't work for me or my students. It was like they were written by someone who had never been a teacher. I hope you all are able to find something here that will help you in your classrooms and along your teaching journey.

Thanks again for stopping in!

  1. Heidi...your two look like loads of fun, and with your interest in reading, I just knew you were probably a reading coach or specialist too. So your roots are in intervention which is such a great way to start out teaching (IMO). I am so glad you found my blog. I enjoyed reading your post about Reading for Meaning today.

  3. Hi, I couldn't find the button to email you so I decided to leave a comment! I saw one of your colleagues mention that you do play-based learning in 2nd grade! Can you explain what a typical day looks like for me? I know how to do centers in 2nd grade, but not full play-based instruction. I am teaching in a PYP (full inquiry) school in Botswana Africa and we are trying hard to change from the British academic structure to play-based. Without a visual for 2nd/3rd grade we are struggling with how to implement anything beyond work stations and 45min inquiry lessons. Please help! Thank you so much! My email is enyarko@northsideschool.net

    1. Hi Heidi.
You are second-grade-alicious?! I have been following you. I love your blog. Thanks for reaching out.
(I just emailed you about the RC collab board) :)

  4. Hello! My name is Kira Mitchell (kira_diane@hotmail.com) and I've been trying to get a hold of you. I just bought your cheetah name plates and I can not get them to print. I can't get them to do anything. They downloaded as a JPEG and I can't even get them to print when I override and just try to print the screen. Help!! I have tried both the contact me button as well as the email address on the product. Thanks so much! Kira Mitchell

  5. Good Morning! I just wanted to say thank you for resending it as a PDF and having it done so quickly! I got it to work and they are printed and ready to be laminated! Thank you so so much! I love them and all your creations!
    Thanks again!
