ipad as a document camera! So awesome!

I was at a workshop today for "Inquiry based learning" and we were sharing what we've been doing in our classrooms. One of the other teachers brought an ipad stand that her school has.  She uses it to record the students when they are working on a problem together so that she can later go over the video and listen to their thinking.

I thought this tool was awesome and is WAY better than me holding the ipad and ending up with a shaky video.  Do any of you have these stands at your school? How do you use them in your classroom? It can be used like a document camera as well and it's much cheaper if you already have the ipads! I posted a video before of a different one but here is a link to a better video of the Dewey, for some reason I couldn't post the video for this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wz85shnJCRg&feature=player_embedded#!

Here is what it looks like and the video is below the pic (the video below is not for the Dewey but for a similar stand):

  1. That's a great idea! Only some of our classrooms have iPads, but we were all just given document cameras (and they are awesome!) I like the idea of using this tool to record students for the teacher, and also for students to use to document their work! They could record their reading, problem-solving strategies, or their presentations for projects! Great post--Love hearing about new tech ideas! :) The Learning Lab
